The only connection this image has to this weeks theme is that I painted it 5 years ago, and I had to brush it off, as it was rather DUSTY.

Winter wings.

Canada geese - we love them. So long as they keep flying, we have no problem with them. It’s when they land that the trouble starts. At one time, they used to fly south for the winter. Now, we have a large resident population. That creates all sorts of trouble.

Beneath the trees.

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees, this young Elk walks with total ease.
A painting I did a couple of years ago, seems to fill this weeks theme, "Beneath".

Slocan Steamer

This stern wheeler "Slocan", was built on Slocan Lake in 1891 It spent many years on that lake in the West Kootenays of British Columbia, which makes it pretty old fashioned.

Winter night in the Kootenays.

Having spent time in the Kootenay area of British Columbia in winter, the night sky is a wonderfull sight with more stars than I have ever seen before. One could spend all night "Star Gazing".

Song Sparrow

This week's Illustration Friday theme, "Caged".
Ideally I do not like to see any animal caged, and would much prefer to see them in natural settings. This Song Sparrow often visits our bird feeder, and we love to watch it, along with all the other birds.

A day at the beach.

This painting I did seemed appropriate for this weeks theme "Double", our two Granddaughters' first visit to an ocean beach. All beach toys etc, have to be double, so there are no arguments.

"Nevermore"

When I painted this picture, some time ago, I always thought the raven looked as though it was looking for something, and in keeping with this weeks theme, I think it must have been "Breakfast" that was on its mind.

Big sky country.

Giant, made me think of the "Giant" prairie sky, and the time spent in Saskatchewan and Manitoba many years ago.

Sailor away.

This weeks theme "Early" made me think of this picture I painted from an old railway poster from the 1900s.
Plus an old song, "Early one morning, just as the sun was rising, I saw this old guy dancing, skipping down the beach."
Some of the words are not from the original song, just in case you were wondering.

Coopers Hawk

This Coopers Hawk sure looks fearless, so I thought it fit this week's Illustration Friday theme. We see this bird quite often around the bird feeder, although we have only seen it take one victim over the years we have been watching.

Winter cocoon.

My interpretation of this weeks Illustration Friday theme "cocoon".
This alpine hut in the West Kootneys of British Columbia would seem to be a cocoon from the winter storms, and cold nights.

A winter's trail.

This weeks Illustration Friday theme "ahead" made me think of a painting I did 50 years ago. Also, an old "one-liner", or the case of the misplaced comma:

Brave Wren.

I always thought that the Wren was a brave bird. It is always checking out what we are doing in the garden and talking to us. Or that's what we imagine it's doing. Although, it's probably saying, "Clear off out of MY GARDEN!"
