A winter's trail.

This weeks Illustration Friday theme "ahead" made me think of a painting I did 50 years ago. Also, an old "one-liner", or the case of the misplaced comma:
"What's that in the road, ahead". Pretty lame eh!

How did I miss this one last week?! Love the way you've painted those trees and hills in the distance. Lovely colours too.

your paintings are quite well executed but everything is centralized! You could add a lot more interest by shifting the focal points around on your canvas. Still good technique and congrats on the I.F pick.

The top is a wall with color, the bottom absent of color but with amazing perspective sucking you back in. a familiar scene that anybody can fill in their own personal details. these are the notes I'm taking from this.

Alan, I looked at all your pictures and your work just makes me smile! I love the church pic. where you and your wife were married--just beautiful! Congratulations on being the IF pick of the week!

I don't know what I did to deserve being picked for this week's "Pick of the Week", but I would like to thank all the people who have sent me kind messages, not just for this last submission, but over the last year or so. Thank you.

Alan.

beautiful painting! :) I love the dryness in the dark colors. The view looks like it could be in norway. :)

So what if it's a little odd for "ahead." It's a good excuse! Beautiful work!

This is so beautiful, I feel the cold air on my cheeks and that I can walk down that road to the farm house below. Really beautiful.
